Meet our 77Salon family...
Jenifer Akagi and Maricell Cenidoza, co-owners of 77Salon Inc., are both Bay Area natives and started their careers in the beauty industry in 1993. They opened their salon in Oakland, California in 2008. The salon and its work has been featured in numerous magazines, and has been honored with many awards over the years. This women-owned business is proud to boast an amazing salon culture for both clients and employees alike. There is a continuous stream of upcoming talent being trained year round as well as advanced and creative training for our experienced hairdressers.
This great community that has supported 77Salon since the beginning is one that they strive to give back to and return the favor. Since opening, 77Salon has donated to many local schools, non-profit organizations, volunteered at community kitchens, food banks and foster homes, and continues to be an advocate of people doing good things for the Bay Area! As the general manager, Maricell finds ultimate joy in cultivating cutting edge talent and creating a one of a kind culture within the salons. She has a passionate work ethic, an artistic eye and a love for what she does. Maricell prides herself in creating a workplace where clients can come relax in luxury as well a place for stylists to have a well balanced career!
Certified Color Specialist/Creative Director of Color Education
Yolanda has made herself known in the Bay Area, being licensed since 2000 with training in advanced color and highlighting techniques. Her color education is vast with color certification through Wella, LOGICS, and L’Oreal, and advanced education training through DiPietro Todd Salon. Yolanda specializes in power blondes, reds, and the French balayage highlighting technique to give each of her guests a customized, natural and stunningly beautiful look to compliment their natural beauty. She also excels in bringing color corrections back to life with her color expertise. She is the Creative Director of Color Education for our advanced training program as well as our Kerastase ambassador! Yolanda has a great appreciation for art, wine, fine dining, and world travel; she also enjoys cooking at home and fitness outdoors. Yolanda’s rich palette in her personal life matches that of her hair artistry, and she is an expert at transforming all kinds of hair through color.
Nikki is a Bay Area native and has been with 77Salon since the grand opening in 2008. Between her training in the Bay Area and her training in New York, Nikki has a wide variety of education as her foundation. She has participated in Sassoon ABC training, Sebastian cutting, and Wella color classes. Nikki also has extensive training in all over color through L’Oreal and Matrix, as well as curly cutting classes through Deva Chan Academy in NYC. Nikki specializes in cutting natural textured hair, curly hair, long layered cuts, the DevaCurl haircut, men’s cuts, and all-over single process colors. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring different food and watching Bay Area sports teams.
Colorist/Director of Color Education
Ashley comes to 77Salon after working in San Francisco for a few years. She is a colorist specializing in highlighting, American Tailoring and balayage and is an educator for our in-house advanced education program. Ashley attends many outside education classes and events and absolutely loves being a mom and spending time with family on her days off.
JD is an Atlanta native and has been living in the Bay Area since 2016. Originally a nursing major, she recently changed gears and is now a graduate of Paul Mitchell, the School, East Bay. Following her passion of making people feel good, JD felt she could do more by transforming them through haircutting and coloring. When she's not at the salon, you can catch her out trying new restaurants, walking her dogs, or exploring the city!
Jenifer believes advanced education classes and giving back to the community through service are two of the keys to success. Jenifer specializes in long hair cutting, creative color, and Japanese straighteners, but really enjoys all aspects of the craft! She has taken numerous courses to excel in her career including Vidal Sassoon Instructor's Course and Creative Cutting, Deva Curl haircutting, Makeup with Sam Fine, advanced coloring with Matrix, L'oreal, Wella, and styling classes with Shu Uemura and Kerastase to name a few. After time spent serving on the board of local non-profit Haircuts with Heart, a charity that gave complimentary beauty services to houseless women and men, she now spends time volunteering at a local teen center. Her favorite aspect of the business is taking good care of people.
Master Stylist/Director of Color Education
Lisa is a Bay Area native and has been with 77Salon since the opening in 2008, but has been in the hair industry since 1998. Lisa is backed in training through Sebastian International razor cutting techniques, Vidal Sassoon classes, as well as cutting/color classes with DiPietro Todd Salon. Her cutting specialties are in short, textured, long-layered, and men’s haircuts. She is known for her blonde highlighting and her all-over colors, especially the reds, and shares this vast knowledge within our in-house advanced education program. Lisa enjoys outdoor activities and health/fitness, and is also a sports fanatic. Lisa’s love for the fashion industry and the Bay area reflects through her style in and out of the salon.
Creative Director/Creative Director of Cutting Education
CJ joined the 77Salon team after working with hair in the Bay Area since January of 2008. Being an East Bay Native, CJ comes from a background with years of intensive training by Diva Poulos, the renowned global artist/educator for Sebastian Professional in San Francisco. His Sebastian Professional training in up styling and cutting is exhibited in his work. CJ has advanced training in razor cuts and texturizing, men’s cutting, bobs, and long-layered cuts. CJ has been certified in Wella color, and excels in various highlighting and color techniques. His attention to detail and focus on his guests also shines through in his updos and wedding make-up applications, with training in Urban Decay cosmetics.
Master Stylist/Director of Cutting Education
Deeann is a Guam native with over 10 years of experience working in top salons in the San Francisco Bay Area and 2 years in the nation’s capital, Washington DC. Deeann continues to stay inspired and on top of the latest trends and styles by taking advanced in-salon training as well as courses in San Francisco, LA, and NYC. Deeann has a passion for both cutting and coloring, ranging from modern, classic, to chic conservative looks. She specializes in razor cutting with texture. She also has color certification in L’Oreal, Matrix, and Wella. Deeann enjoys working to bring out each client’s natural texture, including wavy and curly texture with an open ear and a kind heart.
Krista is a Santa Cruz native who has continuously been on a mission to help people feel good about themselves since a young age. With a creative eye and big heart, she has finally found herself in the profession made for her. Training with 77Salon since early 2015, Krista is well rounded in both haircutting and coloring. She is MAC certified and specializes in all varieties of hair extensions including micro-links, clamps, and sew-in. Krista is also known for her vintage looks for styling both hair and makeup. In her spare time, she enjoys spending her time along the coast of Santa Cruz along with hiking, knitting, and jewelry.
Josette is a Wisconsin native and has been living in the Bay Area since 2014. She graduated from the Cinta Aveda Institute in San Francisco and has completed our advanced training program here at 77Salon. Josette specializes in fashion color and short haircuts! She has always had a passion for the beauty industry since she was a little girl. Josette has experience with special occasion hair and makeup, as well as wedding makeup during her time at BareMinerals. Outside of the salon she likes to spend her free time seeing live music or going to the beach.
Anita Sayavandee is a Bay Area native and graduated from the Paul Mitchell School of the East Bay. She has learned from some of the best such as Phil Wood, Karen Kaanoi, Emma Long, Kelly Cardenas, and Debra Deitrich. Anita is a certified makeup artist from the Robert Jones Future Professional Makeup Academy. She has a passion for styling and has participated in multiple fashion shows and won first place in competitions throughout her school career. In addition, she has also worked on World of Dance and the Macy's Fashion Show at St. Rose Charity Fundraiser. Being able to use her craft to help others and her community is a huge aspect that she cherishes within her career. When she's not doing hair and makeup, she loves to do calligraphy and spend time with her daughters, husband and family.
